Barrio Triste

Barrio Triste

I CAN SHOW YOU THE LIGHT.

In an impoverished neighborhood of 1980s Medellín, a group of disaffected teens steals a TV reporter’s camera and sets out to document their lives, with the story unfolding through the footage they shoot. Piercing the derelict landscape’s oppressive atmosphere with disarming reflections on dreams and death, their anarchic joyride through the city’s underbelly captures both the restless energy of youth and an eerie sense of the unknown.

STILLZ, the visual mastermind behind music videos for Bad Bunny and Rosalía, makes his feature debut with Harmony Korine (“Spring Breakers”, “Gummo”) as executive producer and an original score by Arca. The film takes the found-footage form somewhere strange and hypnotic. It premiered in Venice Film Festival’s Orizzonti competition before screening at the Toronto International Film Festival, with The Film Stage calling it “among this year’s best first features.”
