WE SEE YOU, AND YOU ARE OBSCENE.

Kelly-Anne wakes up every morning by the courthouse to secure a seat at the high-profile trial of Ludovic Chevalier, a serial killer she is obsessed with. As days go by, she bonds with another groupie, which momentarily breaks her out of her loneliness. But as the proceedings drag on and she spends more time with the victims' families, Kelly-Anne finds it increasingly difficult to maintain her psychological balance. She will do whatever it takes to get the final piece of the puzzle: the missing video of a murdered girl, to whom Kelly-Anne bears a disturbing resemblance.

The dominant film at Fantasia 2023, sweeping the Cheval Noir awards for Best Film, Screenplay, Score and Outstanding Performance — and selected by Letterboxd as one of the best bubbling-under films on its release. Pascal Plante's Québécois psychological thriller takes aim at true-crime obsession, dark-web voyeurism, and our collective hunger for the macabre — and the result, in curator Kit Lazer's words, "kind of broke me. There aren't any jump scares, no gore — just captivating images and a score that slips inside you like a syringe."

Languages: French with English subtitles.
