DON'T THINK ABOUT IT...JUST EAT IT.

When Jules joins her new boyfriend on a New Year's Eve getaway with his old high school mates, she's looking to get some peace and quiet, smoke a bit of weed, and make some new friends. But when the holidaymakers stumble across their host's long-forgotten stash of ancient weed, things quickly take a turn for the nightmarish. By the time they figure out the weed's strange effect, an insatiable hunger for human flesh, it's too late, and the four would-be friends become accidental cannibals. Their efforts to cover up their crime trigger a darkly comic spiral of panic, blame, and even more cannibalism that Jules is determined to survive, even if she's the only one.

Backed by Causeway Films (“Talk to Me”, “The Babadook”, “Leviticus”) and hailing from Letterboxd’s beloved home country of Aotearoa New Zealand, this demented deadpan romp recalls the same, categorically Kiwi strain of low-budget, high-concept horror comedy found in Peter Jackson’s “Bad Taste” and Jonathan King’s “Black Sheep”. Filmed on a crowdfunded budget of around NZ$20,000 by a tiny, Aotearoa-based crew, this 80-minute debut feature—which world-premiered at the New Zealand International Film Festival (NZIFF) before winning best feature from SXSW Sydney—is a testament to the DIY ingenuity and tongue-in-cheek irreverence of its creators.
