WE INVENTED THE FUTURE. SORRY.

The story of BUZZ, an avant-garde, genre-defying MTV magazine series hosted by RuPaul from the early 1990s that fused music, art and experimental media. Through archival footage and interviews, the film traces how a short-lived show anticipated the interactive, internet-driven media landscape we live in today.

A portrait of a briefly lived, wildly ahead-of-its-time MTV experiment, told as a punk-rock story of youthful invention, independence and a future the show predicted before it was erased and forgotten. From Mark Pellington, who co-created the original BUZZ series, and went on to direct dozens of iconic music videos for Michael Jackson, U2, Nine Inch Nails, Public Enemy, and more. World Premiere at Slamdance 2026.
